Sanchaya

For shared expenses

Split group expenses without losing track

A group expense is simple at the moment someone pays. It gets harder when several people pay at different times. Sanchaya keeps expenses, member balances, and repayments together.

What to record when splitting an expense

For each shared cost, note what it was for, the amount, who paid, and who should share it. Then the group can see the resulting balances and update the record when someone repays. This works for rent, trips, dinners, events, and recurring household costs.

Who paid

Keep the payer and expense amount with the group transaction.

Who shares it

Make the participants in a shared cost clear so balances are easier to understand.

What was repaid

Track repayments alongside the original expense instead of relying on chat messages.

How to keep the record clear

  1. Start a groupAdd the people sharing a trip, home, event, or everyday cost.
  2. Enter the costRecord what was paid and which group members share the expense.
  3. Review balancesSee who owes whom and update the history as members settle up.

Example: one dinner, three friends

If one person pays ₹900 for a dinner shared equally by three people, each share is ₹300. Recording the payer and all three participants makes the two outstanding ₹300 shares easy to see.
